The Story Behind Our Birthday Girl Jumper

There are some pieces I make that feel a little more special than others — and this Birthday Girl jumper is one of them.
This week, my niece turns six. She’s the little girl behind the name P&B Embroidery, and without her, this small business simply wouldn’t exist.
When she was born, I was teaching full-time and signed off work with stress. I felt completely lost. Like many people in that position, I was told I had nothing to be stressed about — which, if you’ve ever experienced it, only makes things feel heavier. It’s hard to explain burnout when everything looks “fine” on paper.
During that time, I returned to something I hadn’t given space to in years: creating.
I started slowly — making bibs, crocheting blankets, and personalising tiny pieces of clothing just for her. There was no plan to start a business creating personalised children’s clothing. Just the quiet comfort of making something by hand. Stitch by stitch, I began to realise there was more to life than work, and that creativity deserved its place.
Over time, those small makes grew into P&B Embroidery — a UK-based children’s embroidery brand focused on thoughtful, meaningful pieces for families.
